Organizing our Warehouses: The System
Our inventory of approximately 150,000 items is housed in 2 warehouses: a ~12,000ft2 warehouse in Edmonton and an ~2,850ft2 warehouse in Calgary that have been carefully planned, clearly thought out and meticulously organized. A fully-developed, current inventory system is in place with all items being added or removed from inventory as applicable. Each portion of the warehouses are organized with labelled shelving, colour-coded signage, baskets, basket tags, clips and colour-coded hangers to ensure all items are handled efficiently, methodically and in a neat and tidy manner so as to fully support the Layette Production and make it easy and efficient for both staff and volunteer to understand the warehouses. Safety is also an important component of all that we do in our work in the warehouses.
